By The Light of Thine Eyes: 200 Years of Greece

The documentary that imaginatively narrates the two centuries of modern Greek history from 1821-2021.

Based on archival material, animation and new footage, the film approaches the last 200 years of Greek history by highlighting both military and political developments, but also stories from the fields of science, arts and everyday life. In essence, it takes as its starting point general Makriyiannis famous saying, “this is what we fought for,” following the story of modern Greece through successes, adversities and setbacks up to the present.

The documentary was shown to the public for the first time on March 25, 2021, at 19:00 on the ERT1 channel, and at 20:00 on the same day it was available for viewing online and through the Committee’s social media.

Long Run Productions headed up and coordinated the archive research for the film.
