Leonidas Liambeys founded Long Run Productions in 2020 after more than 12 years’ experience working in Greece’s leading production companies on non-fiction projects. Current productions include The Secrets of the Owl, a documentary directed by Eirini Vourloumis that won the ERT award at the 2021 Thessaloniki Doc Fest pitching forum, funded by Greek Film Centre (GFC) and ERT. He produced an award winning feature-length history doc for ERT and EKOME for the Venizelos Foundation. He is involved in several other national and international co-productions in Producer and Associate Producer roles, whilst specialising as an Archive and Research Producer with a small team of researchers at Long Run. He also produced a social media campaign for the Greek Committee of 2021-1821 and is involved in making films and educational platforms for cultural institutions such as the British School at Athens and the GFC. He is a co-producer on Elina Psykou’s new feature documentary Stray Bodies, a co-production with Italy, Switzerland, Bulgaria and Greece, with the support of Eurimages. The film was previewed at the 2022 Works in Progress forum at the Les Arcs Film Festival and is in post-production. 

He was Head of Content at Green Olive Films between 2016 and 2020. There in 2018-19, he developed the documentary Keros: The Mystery of the Broken Idols for Green Olive Films, bringing together the team of world-renowned archaeologists and film makers that produced the documentary for National Geographic Greece. He was Associate Producer for the series Ancient Greek Philosophers (2018), a ten-episode doc series about the impact of Ancient Greek philosophy on the modern world for Cosmote History and was responsible for content, episode structure, research and budgeting.  He oversaw the production from development through production in over eight countries and in to post production.  He was Line Producer The Art Code (2019 Cosmote History) as well as at numerous other short format productions.

Between 2008 and 2016 he worked at Anemon Productions where he was Head of Production having worked as a Researcher, Line Producer and Production Manager on numerous other documentaries such as Latin Noir (2021, ARTE, ERT, TVO, Histoire TV), Dolphin Man (2017 ARTE, ERT, TVO, Canal D, SVT, RTS, YES DBS & CYBC), Ultra (2017 HBO Europe, YLE & SKAI TV), Nostos (2015 CNC, EKK), A Family Affair (Greek Film Centre, OTE TV, ABC TV Australia and NERIT), Twice a Stranger (2012 ERT), 1821 (2010 SKAI), A Balkan Tale. In 2014, he received the FOCAL International Award for Best use of Archive Footage in a History Production for Silent Balkans. At Anemon he was in charge of the production of several multimedia exhibitions that were shown in major museums across Europe. For example, Twice a Stranger travelled from Benaki Museum in Athens, to Istanbul, Cyprus, Sweden (Army Museum) and Berlin (National Historische Musee).           

He has a degree from the University of Oxford (PPE) and an MSc in Political Theory from LSE, as well as a Diploma in Painting and Sculpture from the Athens School of Fine Art. He worked variously as a journalist, teacher and artist before joining Anemon Productions in 2008, since when he has worked producing non-fiction television, multi-media and exhibitions for the Greek and world markets.
